For many of them, the vocation was born gradually, almost naturally, by observing their building caretaker working in their service for years. "I've always lived in housing estates, in neighbourhoods that were a bit hot, where I watched the guards work, create a relationship of trust with the tenants," says Ibrahima, 26, who is part of the very first class of the school for building caretakers officially inaugurated this Friday morning in Aubervilliers, Seine-Saint-Denis.
