Israel has presented the United States with a contingency plan to bring fuel into southern Gaza under supervision if Gaza's still existing U.N. fuel reserves run out, a senior Israeli official said.

Hamas terror attack on October 7, Israel has halted the entry of fuel into Gaza. Prime Minister Netanyahu said on Friday after meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Blinken that Israel would not allow fuel into the Gaza Strip.
Israeli officials emphasize that at this stage, there is no shortage of fuel in the Gaza Strip. Hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip receive fuel from Hamas and hospitals in the southern Gaza Strip receive fuel from UNRWA stockpiles.

However, Israel is preparing for a scenario in which UNRWA's fuel reserves in the southern Gaza Strip run out. As part of the preparations for this scenario, Israel, together with international aid organizations, calculated how much fuel would be required to operate hospitals and other critical facilities in the southern Gaza Strip for a limited period of time.
According to the plan presented to the United States, if the political echelon approves the entry of fuel into Gaza, fuel tankers from Egypt will enter from Egypt according to a precise quantity defined by Israel, which will be sufficient to operate essential facilities for a limited period of time, and will be accompanied by UN teams under a monitoring mechanism.
The process will be repeated if necessary, after the allotted period set by Israel has ended.
