Stefan Raab's format "Schlag den Besten" is celebrating a TV comeback – but not as usual on ProSieben. Instead, rival broadcaster RTL secures the rights.
Cologne – It happens again and again that TV stations compete with each other for certain shows and shows change their hometown. Now, however, there is a revival of a ProSieben show on RTL for the second time within a short period of time.
As with "Shame or Cash": RTL snatches away ProSieben's "Beat the Best"
RTL has once again snatched up a ProSieben show, making the comeback of a Raab cult show. After "Shame or Cash" with original presenter Elton (52), the Cologne-based broadcaster is now also bringing Stefan Raab's (52) game show "Schlag den Besten" back to TV next year - about five years after the show premiered on ProSieben in 2019.
Not only is the broadcasting slot new, but the concept is also changing. In seasons one and two, non-celebrities competed against each other in the "Beat the Star" duel principle. In season three, which was also still on ProSieben, the winner of the previous show competed against up to ten opponents per show.
New concept for "Beat the Best": What's changing
With the new edition, a completely new concept has now been launched. In four shows, eleven celebrities will compete against each other in ten games. According to the broadcaster's announcement, athletic skill and brains are required. Each round is about 10,000 euros.
Before each challenge, the winner of a game has to decide whether he wants to gamble or take home the money he has already earned. In the final fourth episode, the two best celebrities of the season play in the big showdown for the season jackpot. Like the previous seasons, the new edition of "Beat the Best" will be hosted by Elton.

It remains to be seen whether the new edition will also be a success for RTL in this case. In the case of "Shame or Cash", the takeover has apparently already paid off: As the broadcaster recently announced, the third of twelve "Shame or Cash" shows has secured a market share of 14 percent among 49- to 14-year-olds and thus achieved the primetime victory among young audiences. However, the fact that "Blamieren oder Kassieren" is now airing on RTL feels "wrong" to many viewers.
