As time passes, the ring tightens around Hamas: IDF forces have been attacking in recent hours what military sources describe as the "thick defensive shell of Gaza City." Within hours, the IDF is expected to complete the encirclement of the city, and the significance is clear: Anyone who wants to flee the Gaza Strip – except for the "drain" established by the 36th Division in the central Gaza Strip – will encounter tanks, armored personnel carriers and fighters on the ground and will also come under fire from the air.

In the morning, the separation of the Gaza Strip into two parts in the central Gaza Strip was completed. During the maneuver, hundreds of shafts were located around the towns, refugee camps and circles close to Gaza City.

Already yesterday (Saturday), fighters of the Golani Patrol prepared an ambush for Hamas commando forces (Nukhba) along the coastal route. Patrol fighters managed to kill eight terrorists at close range. In addition, so far, the 36th Division's engineering forces have blown up dozens of terror tunnel shafts from the ground, and additional shafts have been attacked from the air. Achievements were also recorded in drone warfare, and our forces managed to shoot down three drones in the heart of Palestinian territory.

The IDF explains that most of the terrorists were eliminated by blowing up terror tunnels and shafts. The tunnels, according to military sources, became death traps for the terrorists; This is because, in light of the airstrikes, the oxygen in the tunnels themselves is rapidly depleted, and the entry of air into them is very limited in the absence of electricity used for the operation of the fans. In this situation, the terrorists are forced to leave and are eliminated immediately, or they die already inside the tunnels themselves.

"The terrorists will start surrendering soon"

The IDF estimates that as the encirclement and isolation of Gaza City increases, Hamas terrorists will begin to surrender to our forces. Already at this stage, the organization's military wing finds it difficult to carry out attacks by large squads, and makes do with smaller forces in view of the IDF's firepower. The army believes that following the encirclement of Gaza City, and due to the attacks on terrorist strongholds, the morale of Hamas' military wing will be severely damaged and its operatives are expected to begin surrendering.

In the next stage, after the encirclement, the IDF clarifies, the fighters will be able to reach any point instructed by the senior commanders.

An illustration of initiatives undermining Hamas terrorists provides an unusual case that took place yesterday (Saturday). Golani Brigade commander Col. Yair Plai decided to plan a trap for dozens of Golani Brigade operatives who were hiding in tunnels near the university, on the outskirts of Gaza City. Fighters from the brigade's 12th Battalion waited in the area inside armored personnel carriers, while an ambush was carried out that included additional Golani Brigade forces, tanks and aircraft. Dozens of Hamas terrorists tried to storm the 12th Battalion, and immediately came under fire from the air and from the ground. More than ten terrorists were killed in this incident.
