The unimaginable upheaval: 8-year-old Emily Hand from Kibbutz Bari, who was thought to have been murdered, was apparently abducted to Gaza on October 7. That's according to a statement her family received over the weekend. The mother of the family was also murdered.
In an interview with Channel 12 News, her sister Natalie addressed her directly: "I want to tell you that we are doing everything to bring you back. We know you're kidnapped, we miss you."
Natalie added: "To think we cried for her and sat quietly while we thought she had been murdered. My mother was also murdered, we were broken, in mourning. On October 31, we were informed that Emily had been kidnapped. The night before the massacre she was at her friend's house, her friend and mother were kidnapped and they were also informed that they had been murdered."
The father's interview with CNN a few weeks ago
The father of the family told CNN after the massacre that when he learned that his daughter had been murdered, he was happy. "I shouted, 'Yes,' and smiled. Because that was the best news of all the possibilities I knew."

Hand holds Irish citizenship, and the story is also extensively covered in a country known to be anti-Israel.
