A charred body was found in a car on Friday (November 3rd) in Ecurcey (Doubs), AFP learned Sunday from the Montbéliard prosecutor's office, confirming a report by L'Est Républicain.
A person who was walking in this small village, located twenty kilometres south of Montbéliard, alerted the emergency services after discovering a vehicle in flames. "Firefighters intervened to extinguish the flames and gendarmes noticed that there was a body inside," the prosecutor's office said.
An autopsy will be performed in the coming days
The body could not be identified at first but "it is probably a man", according to the same source. An autopsy will be conducted in the coming days.
An investigation into the cause of death has been opened and "no leads are excluded," the prosecutor's office said. The investigation has been entrusted to the Montbéliard search brigade.
