On the edge of the judicial precipice when he has finally taken the measure of the Place Vendôme and seems to have taken on the mantle of Keeper of the Seals. Starting Monday, Éric Dupond-Moretti, 62, will appear for eight days before the Court of Justice of the Republic, for a case that began on the very day of his surprise appointment as Minister of Justice, in July 2020, and was knotted in the autumn of the same year, when the unions filed a complaint, and came to a standstill on July 28, when the Court of Cassation confirmed his referral to court on suspicion of illegal acquisition of interests.
This is a first for a minister in office - let alone for the Minister of Justice - which he tries to play down in front of his interlocutors: "This trial must not take up all the space." Nevertheless, his political future is at stake.
