Stagnation in the car market: 80,50 new vehicles are currently at seaports, <>,<> of them at Eilat Port, and the rest are scattered between Ashdod Port and Haifa Port. This was the last time a similar situation during the coronavirus period. There are not many interested in purchasing a new car during the war, and orders made in advance by importers continue to arrive.
The solution that the government seaports company is thinking about is to transfer the vehicles that accumulate dust to long-term parking at Ben Gurion Airport, which is already empty. On Friday morning, the company instructed car importers to remove as many cars as possible, while appealing to customs to fine importers who leave new vehicles at the port for more than 90 days.
According to Uzi Yitzhaki, chairman of the Israel Ports Company, "Our challenge is in the next week or two to get as many vehicles out of the ports as possible. There are no large sales of vehicles, so this is not a simple challenge. It's also a peak period in terms of vehicle imports whose arrival is usually timed to the end of the year to do promotions, and right now it's stalled. Some of them we managed to stop with the manufacturers together with the car importers, but not much."

Yitzhaki explains, "Our interest is to remove as many goods as possible from the port areas and leave them available for new goods to enter, and also to keep the ports' waterfront clear. The entry of goods into Israel through the seaports is smooth, we operate all the ports in a full format."
