The political echelon in Israel believes that even after the war in Gaza, the IDF will continue to maintain a security presence and control in the Gaza Strip. A diplomatic source told reporters on Sunday that "I don't see a situation in which the day after, Israel will not have supreme security responsibility in Gaza."
The source added that after the war, "it will not be enough to rehabilitate Gaza, but to undergo a process of denazification" (i.e., purging positions of influence in the Palestinian leadership from Jew-hatred).

Against the background of American pressure to declare a humanitarian pause in the fighting in Gaza, the political source reiterated Israel's position that there will be no ceasefire without the return of the hostages. He added that "even if there is a ceasefire in return for the return of the hostages, it will be temporary and Israel will continue to work to topple Hamas."
Israel believes that only military pressure on Hamas will lead to the release of the hostages, and that the ground operation in the Gaza Strip has already brought about change. "We see something, it hasn't matured yet. Before that, we didn't see anything," the official said.
