The place has a most symbolic name. It refers to the reign of the man who was the mayor of Sucy-en-Brie (Val-de-Marne) for forty-three years, until his resignation for health reasons at the end of January 2007, a few days before his death. As she walked through the doors of the Espace Jean-Marie-Poirier on Sunday afternoon, Marie-Carole Ciuntu (LR) no doubt had more than a thought for her august predecessor in charge of municipal affairs, whom she succeeded almost naturally as first deputy.
