Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday that he was suspending Minister Amichai Eliyahu, who claimed that "dropping an atomic bomb on Gaza" was one of the options to solve the Hamas problem.
In practice, however, Netanyahu has no ability to suspend the minister. As evidence, Eliahu participated in a telephone vote today after the interview in question.

This morning in an interview on Kol Barama radio, when asked by interviewers Israel Cohen and Vicky Adamker whether an atomic bomb should be dropped on Gaza, Eliyahu replied, "It's one way." On the dangerous consequences for the abductees in such a case, he said, "I pray and hope for their return, but there are also costs in war."
