After being critically wounded when a tank overturned during an operation on the northern border, Rabbi Na'ran Eshhar, 33, married with two children, was pronounced dead on Sunday. For a week, they fought for his life in the intensive care unit at the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya. After he was pronounced brain dead, his family initiated the donation of his organs, which were transplanted into four people.
Eshhar was well known to the staff of the National Transplant Center, from the process he underwent in preparation for the kidney donation he performed at Beilinson last June. Naran's kidney was donated to a patient he did not know. Naran is the third kidney donor in his family.
