"Technical malfunction to be investigated": The IDF confirmed Monday morning that parts of an interceptor of the Iron Dome system, which was activated yesterday to prevent the barrage of missiles fired into central Israel, fell near Assaf Harofeh Hospital. According to the military, this is a technical malfunction that will be investigated.

The Iron Dome system, considered a technological marvel, operates in such a way that it automatically detects the rocket and the location where it is expected to land, and launches an interceptor missile at it. In some cases, the system operator makes a decision to allow the rocket to fall and explode if it appears likely to fall in an open area. At the moment, it is not yet known what caused parts of the interceptor to fall yesterday and the matter is being investigated severely.
There were no casualties from the fall of the interceptor parts and from the barrage itself, but the loud noise was felt, and many reported to the police for fear of a direct fall.
