Miri Cohen will host, together with her daughter, Elin, a new cooking show on "The Children's Channel" • She will provide inspiration for joint activities of parents and their children in the kitchen during the war • In an interview she gave to Israel Hayom, she talked about how the idea was born, what she returned to cooking due to the situation and about the changes she had to make in her private kitchen

"Big Brother" star Miri Cohen, who often shares recipes with her hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers that are usually characterized by their simplicity, recently joined the children's channel and filmed a light food show called "Ta'imi" with her young daughter, Aline Cohen. The two were joined by Tal Mossari, the channel's longtime host. "There will be easy recipes for children in the program that parents and children can make together," Cohen reveals in a conversation with us.

What recipes will be there?

"The editor thought of chapters, each with a theme. For example, there will be a 'Birthday' episode, where we will prepare the giant chocolate ball covered with candies that I used to make for my children. There are the glasses cookies that are easy to make, there will also be a flower omelet, and of course, a 'habitorti' that you can't live without. There are many other recipes that are fun to do - these are things you can do with the kids. An available and light meal."

How did the idea for the program come about?

"I was approached by the children's channel and said that they have been doing all kinds of broadcasts for children since the beginning of the war. The idea came up to team me and Aline with a cooking show for the kids. They already know Aline from The Boys and Girls and have a warm spot in their hearts for her. I had a cooking show they watched." Immediately Elin and I answered in the affirmative and very quickly it came to fruition."

The show itself, oddly enough, was filmed by Cohen at home, in his private kitchen. "It's also done to give the kids a relaxed sense of home – to see me and Elin cooking at home. It's a different feeling from a studio, a warmer feeling. And of course, we were joined by Tal Mossari, who brought a lot of life and color."

What was it like working with Tal?

"He's so charming, he's got a lot of patience and joie de vivre – and it was delicious. Everything was delicious to him, he ate everything from everything, even a few times. We had a lot of fun together."

Anything that surprised you working with Aline?

"She didn't really surprise me, because she's so good in the kitchen – she's just great. Just as she is my right hand at home, so it was on the show."

A place that relaxes

In the two black weeks since that Black Saturday on October 7, when the Iron Sword War broke out, Cohen stopped filming recipes and publishing them. "For the first two weeks since October <>th I was in the kitchen, because the kitchen does me very good, it's a place that relaxes me. But I didn't post [about] food, because it wasn't appropriate and I didn't feel like taking pictures and editing," she says, recalling what made her go back to doing the thing she loves so much. "Then I got messages from a lot of women asking me to post content from the kitchen, cooking. They said it would relieve tension. I realized it was so handicapped because maybe they would feel what I felt when I ran into the kitchen. So I started uploading content. I made a Star of David out of pretzels, and then a challah secretion from an Aline recipe."

Are there things you stopped preparing or started preparing more because of the situation?

"Suddenly I started making salads, faster food. I uploaded porridge (to Instagram) - things I stopped doing a long time ago and went back to. Things have changed a bit in the kitchen, but still Friday is the heavy cooking, couscous and cooking."

What message is important for you to convey these days?

"It's important that we are united and that there is a lot of unconditional love. This is our time to give all our love to our soldiers, to the wounded, to the abductees, so that everyone will return home safely. Be in action and get out. I know it's hard and everyone is anxious, and it's hard with the kids, and it's hard to be at home, hard when there's no work. But you have to have a lot of patience and smile, and try as much as possible to accept what you have. Try to see the good, and be united. United is the most important thing."
