Netanyahu: No 'general ceasefire' in Gaza without hostage release

In the televised interview, Netanyahu once again rejected the idea of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

"There will be no ceasefire, no general ceasefire, in Gaza without the release of our hostages," he said

"With regard to ... The little breaks – an hour here, an hour there – we've already had them," he added.

"I guess we're going to look at the circumstances to allow the goods – the humanitarian goods – to come in or our hostages to leave. But I don't think there will be a general ceasefire," he reiterated. "It would hinder our efforts to get our hostages out, because the only thing that works on these criminals and on Hamas is the military pressure we exert," he said.

Netanyahu says Israel will take 'overall responsibility for security' in Gaza after war

Asked by ABC News about who should govern after the war, Netanyahu replied: "Those who don't want to continue on the path of Hamas."

"Israel will assume, for an indefinite period of time, overall responsibility for security" in the Palestinian territory, he added. "Because we've seen what happens when we don't have it. When we don't have this responsibility for security, we see the eruption of Hamas terror on a scale we could not imagine," he said.
