Successful Abu Asa, Osma's cousin who was murdered, at the conference of leaders of Bedouin society/Walla!
Dozens of sheikhs and public representatives from the Bedouin community in the Negev gathered today at the Khura Local Council to talk about the community during the fighting. The conference conveyed a clear message to all parties in the region: "We are part of the State of Israel and the other side should also understand." Musleh Abu Asa, Osma's cousin who was brutally murdered on Black Saturday, said at the conference: "We, the Bedouin population, have always been in the Negev. Bedouin society also paid a heavy price on October 7, they hurt us very badly. A relative of mine was murdered after abuse. The whole country saw that the Bedouin proved themselves even in a state of war, many contributed, many saved lives while risking their lives. We hope that after we get through the war, the decision makers will treat us as loyal people whose destiny is here in the State of Israel."
Sheikh Gideon Abu Sabit said: "After the shocking incident on October 7, we had to make our voices heard for the citizens of Israel and the entire world." Sheikh Abu Sabit went on to insist: "We condemn the incident, there is no word to describe the atrocities. Guardian of Walls 2 will not be. Jews and Bedouins are together. We are an integral part of this country."
