Since the beginning of the Iron Sword War, the IPS has absorbed 2,601 security detainees, according to an announcement by the Israel Prison Service. Last week, the process of absorbing them began in one of the IPS facilities, including a special operation to absorb Nukhba terrorists. So far, no unusual events have been counted. Israel Prison Service Commissioner Cpl. Kathy Perry: "Last week we began the process of absorbing Nukhba terrorists in the IPS. These are the most dangerous terrorists held in Israel and we are taking all the necessary security measures at the most secure operational level. IPS guards are strong, motivated and ready to face any scenario and threat."
After the opening of the fighting front in the southern sector (7 October 10), it was decided that after the conclusion of the interrogations of the security forces, the Nukhba terrorists would be transferred to the Israel Prison Service. The number of prisoners in the IPS as of Thursday stands at 23,18 prisoners and criminal and security detainees. Since the beginning of the war, the IPS has absorbed 862,2 security detainees. In addition, the IPS announced that since the beginning of the fighting, about 601 cleared phones and 170 cold weapons have been found. The equipment was confiscated and the prisoners were punished with disciplinary and criminal measures.

In accordance with the decision of the Commissioner of Prisons, the conditions of detention of the Nukhba terrorists were established, including strict security arrangements – they will be held in separate wings in isolated conditions. Due to their dangerousness, and in order to maintain security arrangements in the detention facilities and prevent PFA, they will be handcuffed according to operational needs. In addition, since the beginning of the war, living conditions for all security prisoners have been reduced. For example, the security prisons are in a "lock" state (closed in cells), the flow of electricity in the outlets in the security cells has been stopped, visits have been canceled and the possibility of access to the purchase in the canteen has been prevented.

The imprisonment of a large number of dangerous terrorists such as the Nukhba is an event for which the IPS prepares with maximum attention. IPS Commissioner Kathy Perry said of their preparation for the operation: "We are studying their capabilities. We saw the murderous attack on October 7," she said. "We learn about them and adapt the conditions for their absorption. These are extremely extreme, violent and unpredictable terrorists who have expertise, whether it is to operate in the air, sea or land. We learned this in order to know who is standing before us, beyond what the entire State of Israel has been exposed to." Each cell holds between 4 and 8 terrorists from Nukhba, with security beefed up around the prisons in the north and south, against the background of the security escalation and rocket fire, alongside the Ofer security prison near Jerusalem.
Regarding what the IPS will look like the day after, Commissioner Perry says, "What happened is not what it will be, we will lead to a different, different, restrictive policy towards security prisoners. I hold quite a few discussions and brainstorming sessions both with external parties and with the command staff on the subject of prison conditions for security prisoners. Required and there is something to change. We will present the conclusions to the Ministry of Justice and National Security, the National Security Council and the political echelon."
