"What happened in the security prison is not what will be," Israel Prison Service Chief Superintendent Kathy Perry said at a press briefing, days after the Israel Prison Service began absorbing the Nukhba terrorists who took part in the surprise murderous attack on Israel.
According to her, the security prisons in the prisons are tense and quiet. "The prisoners know what's going on but aren't aware of all the details," she said, "they're busy the day after and a possible prisoner deal."
So far, several dozen terrorists have arrived at the IPS facilities and completed their interrogation by the Shin Bet and Unit 504. "These are the most dangerous terrorists held in Israel and we are taking all the necessary security measures at the most secure operational level," Perry said.

The Nukhba terrorists are imprisoned in separate wings and, if necessary, the IPS explains, they will also be handcuffed in the cells in which they are held in accordance with the situation assessments related to maintaining the security of the guards and the wings in which they are detained. "Prison guards are strong, motivated and ready to face any scenario and threat," said the Prison Service Commissioner.
Regarding the day after the war, Perry said that brainstorming should be held regarding the treatment and conditions of security prisoners, holding them according to organizational affiliation, and regarding the issue of the funds transferred to them for purchases in the canteen.
The good old days are over
Since the beginning of the war, living conditions for all security prisoners have been reduced as part of operational efforts. In prisons, security prisoners are in a "lockdown" state (closed in cells), without visits, without the possibility of purchasing in the canteen, with a reduction in activities in the wings, a freeze on the speaker's institution, and a cessation of the flow of electricity in the outlets in the security cells, in order to thwart contact with the outside by illegal means and to remove electrical appliances, including radios and televisions.
About a week ago, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir announced that he had instructed to stop depositing PA funds to security prisoners in the canteen, but according to Perry, the security prisoners' canteen is closed anyway, so there is no need to discuss it at this stage.

It should be emphasized that after the opening of the fighting front in the southern sector, it was decided that after the conclusion of the interrogations of the security forces, the Nukhba terrorists would be transferred to the Israel Prison Service. Preparations for their absorption are carried out through various multidisciplinary channels, with an emphasis on incarceration, intelligence, operations and training efforts.

Over the past month, an extensive arrest campaign has been carried out throughout Judea and Samaria. The number of prisoners in the IPS currently stands at 18,862 prisoners and criminal and security detainees. Since the beginning of the war, the IPS has absorbed 2,601 security detainees.
Only last week, the process of absorbing Nukhba terrorists began in one of the IPS facilities. In order to protect them, the prison guards of the IPS security units underwent appropriate professional training and so far no exceptional incidents have been counted.
In accordance with the decision of the Commissioner of Prisons, the conditions of imprisonment of the Nukhba terrorists were established, including strict security arrangements: they would be held in separate wings in isolated conditions. Due to their dangerousness, and in order to maintain security arrangements in the detention facilities and prevent PFA, they will be handcuffed according to operational needs.
Since the beginning of the fighting, security guards, together with the special units in the IPS: Masada, Dror, Nachshon and special district units, have carried out hundreds of searches initiated in all security wings in order to carry out the policy and locate prohibited and smuggled means.
Since the beginning of the fighting, about 170 cleared phones and about 150 cold weapons have been found. The equipment was confiscated and the prisoners were punished with disciplinary and criminal measures.
