Highlights: Hollywood star expresses support for Israel – and backtracks. Actor Taylor Lautner ("Twilight") removed an Instagram story in which he wrote that "one must not be afraid to condemn horrific acts of violence against civilians" The deletion came after receiving a flood of pro-Palestinian comments: "Rubbish that eats propaganda", "Let him go to hell," "Yuck, Taylor Lautsner. Joe Alwyn supports the Palestinians," tweeted X (formerly Twitter), a user who skimmed an ex-boyfriend's petition calling for a ceasefire.

Actor Taylor Lautner shared a story with 10.9 million Instagram followers on Wednesday expressing support for Israel — but removed it about an hour later, apparently following an onslaught of pro-Palestinian comments.

A story posted by the 31-year-old actor with his wife (who, believe it or not, is also named Taylor Lautner) wrote, in part: "We have been absent from social media these last few days because our hearts ache for all innocent lives that were brutally taken. It hurts our hearts to see our Jewish friends hurt so much. Our hearts ache with our friends who have loved ones in Israel who have been shot, killed or missing."

They also wrote in their joint story: "It is true that there are nuances and conflict and context that we do not fully understand, but as human beings we must not be afraid to condemn horrific acts of violence against civilians."

As mentioned, about an hour after the story was published in front of the actor's 10.9 million followers (and his wife's 1.2 million followers), it was removed – but in that time, he managed to generate a series of online reactions, including dozens of angry tweets from pro-Palestinian web surfers attacking the Lautners for supporting Israel.

"Yuck, Taylor Lautner. Joe Alwyn supports the Palestinians," tweeted X (formerly Twitter), a user who skimmed actor Joe Alwyn, Taylor Swift's ex-boyfriend, with whom Lautner himself had previously dated, who signed a pro-Palestinian petition calling for a ceasefire. "Taylor Lautner is definitely not Taylor's best ex," another tweeter reinforced her words.

"Taylor Lautner will do a somersault to hell," another user added. "Taylor Lautner is a joke," "Taylor Lautner is trash that eats the propaganda," "Cancel Taylor Lautner," "Let him go to hell," dozens of others added.

Some of the tweets attacking Lautner:
