A shocking pedophilia affair in the Sharon and Central region: The police arrested Liraz Rosenberg, 28, from Givatayim, on suspicion of committing serious sexual offenses against dozens of minors. The police have so far managed to locate 29 victims, but it is estimated that there are dozens more underage girls who fell victim to the suspect. A police source said: "He hunted the victims online."
Correspondence with underage girls for 10 years
The serious affair began about a month ago, when a 13-year-old girl from the Sharon area allegedly chatted with Rosenberg, who introduced himself as Raz 23. The suspect pressured the minor to meet, and when they met, he raped her and committed other sexual offenses against her. The girl's parents, realizing that she had been sexually abused, contacted the police, and the investigation was transferred to the Central District Unit.
Heeled, harassed and threatened
The investigative team searched for the offending man on social media and chats, and eventually investigators were able to locate a suspect who matched the profile of the offending man. The investigators seized his computer and cell phone, where correspondence with dozens of underage girls was found over a period of about ten years. Through these correspondences, investigators were able to locate 29 victims, some of whom are now adults, but the sexual offenses allegedly committed against them were committed when they were minors.
It is suspected that after Rosenberg located underage girls on social networks, he committed some of them sexual offenses by correspondence, and with others he met and sexually assaulted them. "We understood that he committed horrific sexual offenses," explains a police source, "He also used to stalk, harass and threaten them. He did everything to locate as many underage girls as possible, and all his adult life he was busy hunting underage girls."
Police estimate there are dozens more victims than the 29 who have been identified. "Our estimate is that he hunted underage girls for about a decade. We were able to locate dozens of victims using his computer and cellphone, but it is likely that he replaced them over the years and we estimate that there are dozens more victims that we have not yet been able to locate," the statement said.
