LE FIGARO. - Thieves, rapists, perpetrators of physical violence, these repeat offenders in an irregular situation are often inexpellable because they arrived in France before the age of 13 or because they have a spouse or a child in France. If passed, will the government's proposed immigration law allow them to be deported?
Philippe FONTANA. - Foreigners in an irregular situation are entitled to be deported, in particular by an OQTF (obligation to leave French territory, editor's note), which does not mean being expelled. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin's bill aims first of all to simplify their challenges before the administrative courts by reducing the number of proceedings from twelve to four. Secondly, the text (Article 9) provides for the abolition of an entire section of the protections granted to foreigners...
