The violent confrontation that took place at the historic synagogue in Zichron Yaakov was caused by much more than the issue of abductees in the Gaza Strip. One side sees political defiance, while the other sees the synagogue fence as a border between people of light and people of darkness. Even the joint prayer did not help mend the rift

Such a quarrel between Jews has not seen the historic synagogue of Zichron Yaakov in 110 years. This week, at a ceremony in memory of the murdered and fallen and a demand for their safety and a call for the release of the abductees on the thirtieth day of October 7, at the Zichron Yaakov pedestrian mall, flags were hung along the outer fence of the synagogue next to the platform erected next to the synagogue. There were Israeli flags, Zichron Yaakov flags and "Bring Them Back Now" flags. Some of the participants intended to hang a sign in this spirit on the fence in front of the synagogue as well. But then the commotion began, which reached the point of pushing hands. They were met with a loud and violent response from a group of synagogue worshippers. The incident was documented in a video, which went viral last night. Within the community, this event became the talk of the day, and tempers in the local groups on social media have been turbulent ever since, with mutual complaints being raised.

Protests for the abductees are perceived by Netanyahu's supporters as unpatriotic. Right-wingers claim that many of the demonstrations supposedly painted as a call for the release of the hostages are in fact a direct continuation of the demonstrations against the regime coup, which were themselves a direct continuation of the "Lech" and "Just Not Bibi" demonstrations. At the first demonstration in Caesarea, hundreds of soul candles were arranged to contain the word "guilty." As far as the right is concerned, this is the same lady in a change of heart, even if circumstances have changed.

In an attempt to mend the rift between the residents, a joint prayer was held yesterday at the entrance to the Ohel Yaakov synagogue for the safety and return of the abductees, with the participation of the hawks, residents of the same colony who are currently torn apart, and some of the worshippers and some of the protesters of the previous day. "Tonight, the demonstrators and the worshippers recited a chapter of Psalms together, and whoever blessed the abductees, one of the synagogue worshippers said, "was moving."

Expired and we will not pay. First, because, as stated, the dispute was not about prayer at all, but about the desire of the rally participants to hang the sign in a prominent place to the street. Second, it turns out that the invitation to pray together occurred even before most of the participants in the rally for the abductees arrived, and quite a few of them believe that they still deserve an apology from the worshippers. "They think the fence belongs to them. But I have news for them. Neither the synagogue fence nor the synagogue belong to the worshippers. This is Zichron Yaakov's synagogue and we also have something to say as residents," said one of the participants.

Some worshippers believe that those attending the rally only presented yesterday's events, without presenting yesterday's prayer. Some of the rally participants think that a kind of hijacking was done to present as if a kind of sulha had been held, and that an apology or permission to hang the sign in front for the abductees they have not yet received.

"The public here is mobilizing and working on behalf of the abductees, and such acts must be condemned so that people like this will think a thousand times when it comes to abductees and bereaved families," said Lavalle Benny Davidson, a resident of Zichron Yaakov. When he was 13, Davidson was one of the Entebbe kidnappers, and today he is very angry about what happened at the entrance to the synagogue. "Let them know that they don't get their signs taken down or grabbed flags," he said. "This is unacceptable behavior and their excuses are unacceptable. There is a fence with people of light on one side and people of darkness on the other. When the poison machine raises its head, the public must stop such ugly phenomena immediately. Without internalization and public expression of regret, I don't see the end of the story here, and what the authorities don't do, the public will do to condemn such phenomena and people like that."

In the last crisis at the synagogue, 110 years ago in 1913, Rabbi Kook refused to pray in the synagogue with his entourage after it became clear to him that his interior design was too Reform, let alone Christian. The person who is now making efforts to mend the rift is the head of the council, Ziv Desha. So far without success.
