Spies at the heart of the negotiations. The director of the American CIA and the Israeli Mossad found themselves in Qatar, under the thumb of the local prime minister. According to AFP, Bill Burns and David Barnea spoke with Qatari officials on Thursday about a "possible humanitarian truce" in Gaza. According to one official, "the release of hostages" and the entry of "more aid" into Gaza were also on the agenda of the negotiations. The parties are said to have "made good progress towards an agreement".
