Summary. The A69 motorway, whose work began in spring 2023 in the Tarn, is the subject of increasingly fierce protest. On Saturday, October 21, between 4,000 and 8,000 people gathered in the department to demand the immediate suspension of the work.
This motorway should reduce travel time between Castres and Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), which are about fifty kilometres apart and are currently linked by a national road. For more than a year and a half, local opponents and environmental activists have been multiplying actions against this project, which they consider useless and harmful to the environment and the climate.
