BRUSSELS, 10 NOVEMBER - "The EU strongly supports Israel's right to defend itself in line with humanitarian and international law and reiterates the importance of ensuring the protection of all civilians in line with international humanitarian law. The EU and the Gulf countries share the same commitment to a lasting and sustainable two-state peace based on the two-state solution, through increased efforts in the Middle East peace process." This was stated by the EU envoy for the Gulf, Luigi Di Maio, speaking in Stresa at the conference of the Europe Initiative Foundation. "Very important is the fact that Saudi Arabia will convene a summit tomorrow of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on the situation in Gaza. This event creates an opportunity for Iranian President Raisi to visit Saudi Arabia for the first time since the agreement on the normalization of relations between Riyadh and Tehran, signed in March this year," Di Maio explained.
