Like the Watches & Wonders trade show or Dubai Watch Week, the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève is one of the highlights of watch lovers' agendas. A bit like the Oscars in the land of ticking...

An appointment was made on November 9 at the Théâtre du Léman, in Geneva, for the GPHG awards ceremony. The big winner of the evening? The independent manufacturer Audemars-Piguet, which received the highest prize, the Aiguille d'Or, for its Code 11.59 Ultra Complication Universelle watch. Among the other stars, the Sphère Series 1 watch was awarded the Innovation Prize, and the Persée Azur clock by Maison Alcée was awarded for its audacity. Ferdinand Berthoud was also awarded for his FB 3SPC chronometer.

In the ladies' timepiece, Monsieur Dior's Grand Soir Automate Étoile watch was named Ladies' Complication Watch of the Year. Piaget won two awards: the Ladies' Watch Award for its Hidden Treasures and the Métiers d'Art Watch Award for the Altiplano Undulata. Another marvel was Bulgari's Serpenti Cleopatra, which won the jewellery watch trophy. Among the timepieces in the spotlight during the evening were the Freak One by Ulysse Nardin, the Pelagos by Tudor and the C1 Bel Canto by Christopher Ward London. Svend Andersen and Vincent Calabrese received the Special Jury Prize.

As a reminder, the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), created in 2001 and run by a foundation recognized as being of general interest since 2011, rewards the watches of the year. Its purpose? Celebrate and promote the art of watchmaking.
