Palestine will win", "Gaza is dying", "Free Gaza", "save children"... Several tags were discovered on Thursday morning in Nort-sur-Erdre, north of Nantes. They were certainly committed on the night of Wednesday to Thursday. Road signs, advertising signs and the façade of a house have been covered with red writing. A McDonald's was also targeted, while the day before, the brand had to justify itself for not supporting "any government involved in this conflict", after an Israeli franchise offered meals to Israeli soldiers.
An investigation has been opened after the damage. It was entrusted to the gendarmerie brigade of the commune of 9000 inhabitants. So far, no complaint has been filed. "Regardless of the current context, it's targeted," said a source close to the investigation. "We're looking for the perpetrators. Investigations are ongoing." Neighbours will be interviewed, in case they have heard or seen anything. Investigators will also be looking at video surveillance, if there is any. When contacted, the mayor of Nort-sur-Erdre did not respond to our request.
On the same night, two garbage fires were also reported. Investigations will have to determine if this is related to the graffiti.
