Highlights: The head of the ecologists Marine Tondelier will go at the invitation of Emmanuel Macron to the new meeting of party leaders in Saint-Denis on November 17. The Socialist Party and La France Insoumise declined the invitation. On the left, only two party leaders, she and the communist leader Fabien Roussel, will attend this meeting. A third meeting, the third, follows those already organized on August 30 and October 12, the latter entirely devoted to the conflict between Hamas and Israel.

The left will be represented... partly. The head of the ecologists Marine Tondelier will go at the invitation of Emmanuel Macron to the new meeting of party leaders in Saint-Denis on November 17, she announced on Friday, but is "not fooled" by the method of the head of state who "refuses any form of listening".

On the left, only two party leaders, she and the communist leader Fabien Roussel, will attend this meeting. The Socialist Party and La France Insoumise declined the invitation.

The national secretary of EELV explains that she will come to talk about "environmental issues", subjects that she had already deplored the absence of during previous meetings, she explains. "It is clear that once again, neither the ecological nor the social emergency are on the agenda of your political concerns," she wrote in a letter to the president.

'Feeling of dismay'

"Twenty-one years after the Earth Summit in Johannesburg and to paraphrase President Jacques Chirac, you decide today, Mr. President, to look the other way while the house burns. I can therefore confirm that I will be there to carry out these subjects," continues Marine Tondelier.

She said there was a "sense of consternation" among environmentalists when she read her latest invitation letter. "You put forward a so-called desire for dialogue," she stressed, "while at the exact same time, you multiply the use of Article 49.3" on the state and social security budgets.

"We are not fooled," she continues, denouncing a method that "consists of refusing any form of listening or consensus-building in order to better multiply the number of forced passages."

A third meeting

This November 17 meeting, the third, follows those already organized on August 30 and October 12, the latter entirely devoted to the conflict between Hamas and Israel. Its aim is to broaden the scope of the referendum to include "social issues", including immigration.

"How can you honestly reconcile a supposed desire for national cohesion and launch a referendum on one of the most divisive issues, especially in the international context we are experiencing?"
