As far as the IDF is concerned, Shifa Hospital in Gaza is an important focal point in the war. In recent weeks, the IDF presented evidence of Hamas' use of the hospital for its needs, announcing that hundreds of terrorists among the perpetrators of the massacre had found shelter there after Black Sabbath. At this stage, it is unclear how many patients there are in the hospital. According to the IDF's assessment, most of its staff are Hamas members. Security sources say that the terrorist organization has "planted" terrorists posing as patients in the various wards. It is estimated that at least hundreds of Hamas operatives of various ranks are hiding inside Shifa.

The departure of tens of thousands of Palestinians from Shifa is defined as an operational achievement. The goal is to evacuate the entire northern Gaza Strip and Gaza City, so that there will no longer be civilian shelters for terrorists.

The IDF's efforts in the northern and central Gaza Strip led to the complete evacuation of nine of Gaza's hospitals, which are currently classified as inoperative. One of them is Nasser Hospital. At this stage, there are ten hospitals that have not yet been evacuated to an area in the southern Gaza Strip defined as safe. Some of them still have patients, but both civilians and Hamas members use them as shelter.
One of these institutions is Rantisi Hospital, which has 20 seriously ill patients, who are defined as ventilators and require evacuation by ambulance. The IDF estimates that the evacuation will take place in the next 200 hours, in coordination with the IDF. According to estimates in the defense establishment, there are currently <>,<> uninvolved Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip and Gaza City.
