There are very different opinions in the Weilheim building committee on a preliminary building application for a hillside plot between Münchener Straße and B 2. The developers would like to build an apartment building with three residential units on the site

Weilheim - To the north of the residential building - a good 16 meters long, eleven meters wide and nine meters high - an additional building with an energy center, ancillary rooms (for parking bicycles, for example) and a roof terrace is planned. The development plan "Münchener Straße/Ludwig-Thoma-Straße" specifies a building site for the property, which lies southeast of Münchener Straße 88 on the outskirts of the village – which would be adhered to for the project – but leaves the height and number of floors open. Thus, the imperative of insertion into the environment applies.

And in the opinion of city architect Katrin Fischer, the planned new building would be too high for this: "That would cause an increase for the surrounding area, even if this building is a little lower." That's why Fischer recommended in the most recent building committee meeting to "go down to the classic knee stock", as is the case in the neighborhood. "This would still make a semi-detached house possible."

"Otherwise we'll open a barrel here"

Only this "slimmed-down version" is possible here, according to Rupert Pentenrieder, "otherwise we will open a barrel here". The BfW representative also sees the development of the property, which leads via a "very narrow private road", as "problematic" with regard to additional residential units. The latter had already been known when the development plan was drawn up, as Stefan Kirchmayer, an employee of the city planning office, countered.

"Not so problematic", also because of the hillside location, Klaus Gast (CSU) sees the submitted building request. The city must fundamentally consider whether to build in the area or in height – but it is clear to him: "It is better to build upwards, and here it is compatible." Luise Nowak's attitude is similar: "For many, upward extensions are the only option, otherwise we will no longer create building space for many in Weilheim," argued the Green representative. Whereupon Mayor Markus Loth (BfW) emphasized: "It's not about rejection, it's just about a tolerable level."

Now a site visit should help

In order to be able to decide on the height development in this suburban location, the building committee needs an on-site visit, said BfW spokeswoman Brigitte Holeczek: "We have to look at it on site, also because of the development: It is really an experience to get there at all." In the end, the committee unanimously agreed. In the next meeting, there is now to be a site visit, the decision on the building application for an apartment building has been postponed for the time being.
