"It's still going up... In Blendecques, near Saint-Omer, in the Pas-de-Calais region, the inhabitants of the 8-May-1945 district watched helplessly as a desolate spectacle unfolded: that of water invading the streets and seeping everywhere. When they went to bed on Friday night, the threat of flooding still seemed distant, uncertain. When I woke up on Saturday, the water had invited itself into the dining rooms. This time, there was no choice but to evacuate. A total of 247 municipalities have been or are still affected by these historic floods.
