It was supposed to be a dream honeymoon, but it ended in tragedy. Shortly after the wedding, a groom dies in an accident in the Caribbean.

St. Lucia – First the wedding, then the honeymoon in the Caribbean. At least that was the plan of a newlywed couple from the USA. But their time together ended terribly. A tragic accident of the groom tore apart the young happiness, only a few days after the vows, Mariana Kuhlman is already widowed.

Young groom dies just days after wedding in the Caribbean

Her husband, Nate, proposed to Mariana in Utah's Zion National Park in December 2022. Less than a year later, they were married on October 28 in their home town of Steubenville, Ohio, according to the New York Post. Both had chosen St. Lucia in the picturesque Caribbean as their destination for their honeymoon. Only three days after the wedding, tragedy struck: Nate died on the spot as a result of a water-skiing accident. This was confirmed by relatives on the donation page GoFundMe. How the terrible accident could have happened is not specified in more detail.

Nate's mother, Heather Kuhlman, spoke out shortly after her newlywed son's tragic accident. On November 3rd, she thanked on Facebook for the great sympathy and support. At the time, she herself was on her way to St. Lucia in the Caribbean to be with her son. A short time later, however, he succumbed to his injuries. "Nate's death took us all by surprise and took our breath away," writes Heather Kuhlmann.

Mariana Kuhlman posted a picture of the wedding together on Instagram, with the touching text: "Nathaniel Patrick Kuhlman, my sweet husband, I knew that going to heaven with you was the calling of my life and I will never understand why you went ahead without me, but being your wife was and will continue to be the greatest calling and gift of my life. I love you, with all that I am, and I can't wait to be with you again."

The sympathy is huge: More than 100,000 dollars collected for relatives

"Nate was a wonderful husband, friend, son, and brother," the GoFundMe page reads, among other things. He was a "funny, friendly and adventurous soul". "We ask for help with the family's funeral and travel expenses," write the organizers of the fundraiser.

And they succeed. Together with another appeal, more than $100,000 has already been raised (as of November 8). The sympathy is huge, many people express their concern about the fate. "I'm so sorry for her loss, I can't even imagine the burden," writes one donor. "I've never met any of them, but their story touches me deeply. I pray for her and for the peace of Nate's soul," assures another.
