Highlights: Plans for up to 16 wind turbines. Gauting/Gilching is planning two to three plants, an investor near Wörthsee five. There are also wind power plans at the county borders. For example, several facilities are planned in Forstenrieder Park to the left and right of the A 95 between the Starnberg triangle and Munich. A joint project of several municipalities from the district of Munich is underway there. Plans are also underway in other municipalities. For. example, a private investor is planning five wind turbines in the forest northwest of Etterschlag.

The topic of wind power is becoming more and more concrete: A few days ago, the municipality of Gauting presented the plans for eight wind turbines. Plans are also underway in other municipalities.

Gauting/Gilching – So far, only the municipality of Berg has wind turbines in the district of Starnberg. That is likely to change soon. Because of the energy transition that is being sought, the other municipalities must also make their contribution. The Onshore Wind Act obliges them to make 1.2 percent of their land available for this purpose. In addition, the outdoor facilities are privileged, which means that the municipality's approval is no longer required for construction.

This week, at an information event in the Bosco, to which about 150 listeners found their way, Gauting presented details of the planning in her municipal area. Robert Sing, an engineer from Landsberg who also worked in Berg, is in charge of the project. Addressing all skeptics, he said: "Anyone who has doubts or fears should go to Berg and look at the conditions there. Then you get a good picture." The Berger plants are considered a model of success.

Ten years ago, the district designated priority areas for wind turbines. In Gauting, there were five. In the course of a feasibility study, two of these remained, namely areas in the Königswieser Forest and in Buchendorf, most of which belong to the Bavarian State Forests. The municipality could erect a total of 16 wind turbines there. However, after a controversial debate, the municipal council has agreed on eight – four each in Königswiesen and Buchendorf. Conservation mapping is scheduled to begin next spring.

As in Berg, the citizens are to be involved, who then skim off the profits – there is talk of a return of six percent. Due to the progress of technology, the turbines have become larger than Berg: state-of-the-art turbines are 250 meters high (Berg 210), and the yield is also significantly higher. The four turbines in the Wadlhauser Gräben near Berg went into operation in December 2015. With the yield, the municipality covers more than 100 percent of its electricity consumption from renewable sources – an exceptional position in the district.

Gauting is not the only municipality that is concerned about wind power. The municipality of Gilching, together with Alling and Schöngeising from the neighbouring district of Fürstenfeldbruck, is pursuing the construction of some plants on one of its three concentration areas, which, however, are not expected to go into operation before 2027. As Gilching's mayor Manfred Walter said yesterday, the species protection investigations are currently underway, and the building application is to be submitted in the spring. Two plants are planned, possibly a third. "Due to the proximity to the Fürstenfeldbruck earthquake measuring station, a location near Alling was problematic. But maybe this turbine can move closer to the others, then there will be three wind turbines," said Walter.

There are also concrete considerations in the area of the municipality of Wörthsee. For example, a private investor is planning five wind turbines in the forest northwest of Etterschlag in the direction of Jexhof on a concentration area of the municipality. According to Mayor Christel Muggenthal, this is a private project. However, the owner had agreed to build one of the wind turbines with citizen participation. "I would have liked to have had a second one, but why would he get involved in it?"

There are also wind power plans at the county borders. For example, several facilities are planned in Forstenrieder Park to the left and right of the A 95 between the Starnberg triangle and Munich, a joint project of several municipalities from the district of Munich. Preparations for approval are underway there.
