In the shadow of the war against Hamas in Gaza: On Saturday afternoon, hundreds of people gathered in Ramallah for a rally to mark the 19th anniversary of Yasser Arafat's death. However, the incident quickly turned into a show of support for Gaza, focusing on what was called "Israeli aggression against the residents of the Gaza Strip."
The event was also attended by members and activists of the Fatah movement, who inflamed the atmosphere against Israel and pointed the arrows of blame at the United States. Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki, who belongs to the hawkish side of the movement headed by Mahmoud Abbas, spoke at the rally and sailed through conspiracy theories.
"Gaza is subject to destruction, fire, and barbaric crimes," the Fatah official claimed, "Biden is the one who is waging the campaign and using Jews and Israel to cover up his decision to create a new Middle East and wipe out Gaza for gas in the northwest of Gaza." He called Israel "a foreign entity in the region" and accused it of being "a tool in the hands of the United States to take over the world's oil resources."
"Can America tell Israel to stop the war?" asked Zaki, calling on Arab countries to sever their relations with Israel. "Stop your ties with it in all areas, don't be party to this, Israel won't protect you." His remarks were accompanied by calls of Allah Akbar and coincided with the events of the Arab conference that opened on Saturday in Riyadh.
