A Scottish girl complained that her bedroom smelled strange of fish. Claudia Anderson waited a few weeks to ask for help, and after finding out what the source of the smell was, she urges other people not to wait like her—because it turns out it was a matter of life and death.

It turns out that the unpleasant smell was caused by a very dangerous electronic short circuit that could have caused a fire in her house. She uploaded a video to TikTok that has amassed tens of thousands of views in which she talked about the sequence of events.

"The smell of fish in your house? Call an electrician immediately!" she wrote in the caption of the video, saying: "For several weeks my husband and I smelled the smelly smell of fish in our bedroom." She said she didn't tell anyone because it was embarrassing and thought the smell was coming from a plumbing problem in the bathroom, but found no signs of it after checking out.

She decided to turn to Google to see what it could be, and after plowing through the internet, she discovered that an electrical problem could cause a bad smell. "I texted my brother-in-law who is an electrician and he said yes, it must be an electrical problem that needs to be checked."

Her brother-in-law checked and found that there was a disconnected power cord inside an electrical switch box. "I don't know if you can see, but it melted the plastic in the socket," Claudia said. We were very lucky to get on it before it caused a fire and a real disaster."
