Theresa Förtsch (12) from Thanning plays in the feature film "New Stories from Pumuckl". She told our newspaper about her time on set.

Egling – Standing in the middle of Master Eder's workshop, Pumuck's bed in one corner, a pile of sawdust on the floor: what sounds like a beautiful dream for the cheeky goblin's numerous friends became reality for Theresa Förtsch. The twelve-year-old from Thanningen was in front of the camera for the feature film "New Stories from Pumuckl". In the film, she plays the girl Marlene. Her wealthy grandfather wants to buy the Eder workshop for her granddaughter as an investment. This much can be revealed in advance: There is a happy ending. Also for Pumuckl and his "new" master carpenter Florian Eder.

"The film was my first big project," says the student proudly. To a small extent, she owes this to her brother. He used to be registered in an acting agency. Once a year, all actors have to have up-to-date photos taken of them on site. On one occasion, Theresa accompanied her brother. "I really wanted to take part in that," reports the Thanninger – she also registered.

After that, nothing happened for several years. Until the phone rang for the Förtsch family in the fall of 2021. It was the agency. "They asked me if I would be interested in a role in the new Pumuckl film," Theresa recalls. She didn't have to think twice. Whether as a radio play or on television, the red-haired goblin is an integral part of her childhood.

As a first step, Theresa had to record a short introductory video. In everyday life, especially at school, the girl speaks a lot of High German. However, she has just as good a command of her native dialect. The last sentence in the video: "If you need someone who speaks Bavarian – I can do that too," she said in the deepest Upper Bavarian. That was well received. A little later, an invitation to the so-called e-casting followed. To do this, the twelve-year-old acted out a film scene at home. In the next step, she was allowed to come to Munich for a personal audition. The girl also mastered this with flying colors – and she got the role.

Came to the agency through my brother – released from lessons for shooting days on set

Filming started in Munich in spring 2022. Theresa was in front of the camera for four days. Filming took place on a large factory site – including an old factory owner's villa – in the Perlach district. Since the original carpenter's workshop from the earlier series has long since been demolished, the film team recreated the scenery in detail. "On the first day, I was really nervous," the young actress reveals. "Everything was so unusual, there were a lot of people on set."

Apart from Theresa, there were only adults on the film set. All the more care was taken of the twelve-year-old. "Once we were filming in the villa, I was wearing white stockings," she says with a grin. "As soon as I got up from the couch, someone came and brought me slippers to keep my feet warm." All scenes were recorded several times. "We tried out a lot of things, sometimes a different camera position, sometimes a different text."

The film has been in cinemas since 29 October. At the preview in the Filmtheater am Sendlinger Tor, Theresa saw herself on the screen for the first time. "Of course, it felt a bit strange at first, but somehow it was cool," she sums up the experience and grins.

At school, of course, word of Theresa's foray into the world of film has long since gotten around. The student of the Gabriel-von-Seidl-Gymnasium had to be released for all days of filming. "A few classmates asked when the film would be released," she says. In any case, one thing is certain: If it is up to the Thanninger, it will not be her last film. "Slipping into a different role and taking a look behind the scenes of the film – all of that is just a lot of fun for me."
