Pastry chef Racheli Ver Nir posted an unusual and touching post last night. In it, she spoke about the financial difficulties she faces as a pastry shop owner in the capital, Jerusalem, following the "Iron Swords" war, and testified that the business she opened about a year ago was in real danger of continuing its operations.

"The first thing I did was open my heart and my place and contribute," she said just before appealing to surfers to come and purchase her desserts. "I've never brought up anything like this," Ver Nir wrote. "Actually, I was a little apprehensive about sharing this with you. I felt that fighting for a business didn't matter while people were fighting for their lives. But I've never kept things in your stomach and it's the same now. So yes, we are at war and the first thing I did, like most of my fellow restaurateurs, was to open my heart and my place and donate hundreds and hundreds of pampering packages to soldiers or heroic people who survived the inferno. And no, I didn't do it to be told 'well done.' I did it for me, for my soul."

Ver Nir further shared the great difficulty she felt during the difficult period: "And like everyone else, I mourned, I cried, I lost relatives, I was happy. Then came the moment when it became clear that from the government I would not get too much coverage for the enormous damage of lack of income. So I got to my feet, who knew more difficult routes, and kept moving because there was no choice," she wrote.

She then clarified the state of the business. "Along the way, of course, I fought for the strong Israeli spirit. Still, although understandable, most of you are still struggling to get back to normal. And we, the small businesses, especially businesses like me that make everything from scratch with no option to exist without manpower or an audience, are collapsing."

Later in her speech, she appealed to surfers to come and support her and her business, and distribute the post she wrote so that it would reach as many people as possible. "So even though I've never done it, I'd rather tell you candidly that I need you, my beautiful audience, so that my amazing dream of just turning one year old doesn't end prematurely," she wrote, optimistically concluding: "I'm planning many more rounds of birthdays to atone for the absence of his first birthday. I'm also sure there's no comfort from fine carbs created with so much love 100% handmade at my place. In short, waiting for you, and of course if you feel like sharing or tagging friends, I would appreciate it very much."
