In accordance with the emergency regulations approved by the government, in order to prevent a foreign broadcaster from harming state security, and after receiving the supporting opinions from all the security bodies, according to which the defense minister was convinced that there is a real harm to state security, the political-security cabinet approved the communications minister's proposal to issue instructions for actions set forth in the regulations against the Al-Mayadeen communications network.

According to the Emergency Regulations, after cabinet approval, the Minister of Communications may order the closure of offices, confiscation of broadcasting equipment, and blocking the use of various communications infrastructures for a broadcasting entity that harms state security.
"Israel is at war. On land, in the air, at sea, in cyberspace, in the electromagnetic spectrum and in consciousness," Communications Minister Dr. Shlomo Krei said on Monday. He adds: "Broadcasts such as those identified with the enemy, while harming state security, must be blocked. Al-Mayadeen TV broadcasts and reporters serve the despicable terrorist organizations, and the time has come to settle accounts with them. The Ministry of Communications, headed by me, will continue to work to strengthen communications infrastructures on the one hand and eradicate communications infrastructures among those who seek our harm."

Defense Minister Yoav Galant responded to the approval of the new regulations: "The State of Israel will not allow the dangerous propaganda of Al-Mayadeen broadcasts, which attempts, during wartime, to harm its security interests and serve the enemy's goals. The measures taken against the Al-Mayadeen "media network," which has become, in practice, the mouthpiece of the Hezbollah terrorist organization and its leader, are the obvious thing to do vis-à-vis terror supporters who liken themselves to journalists, with one goal: harming the security of the State of Israel and its citizens. Together with all the security agencies, I recommended taking action against the channel and carrying out criminal and economic attacks against its people."
