Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich insisted on not transferring NIS 750 million to the PA this month, which constitutes a significant part of its monthly budget. On the other hand, Defense Minister Yoav Galant insisted that the transfer should not be delayed in order to maintain stability in Judea and Samaria.
About a week ago, the Political Security Cabinet decided on the issue and ruled that PA funds would be transferred without the funds earmarked for Gaza, because these funds were transferred to Hamas. However, as noted, the Palestinian Authority refused to accept the transfer of NIS 407 million (offset by NIS 345 million earmarked for Gaza), and the money returned to Israel.
