The beauty queen and former Miss World spoke at a rally marking the women kidnapped to the Gaza Strip, and said the cases awakened the demons she has faced since her rape in 1998 • "I understand and know what is going through their minds, and I just want to hug them to my heart with all my might"

With a trembling voice and great pain, beauty queen and former Miss World Linor Abergil took part in a rally marking the abducted women held last night (Sunday) in the "Abducted Square" near the Tel Aviv Museum, and in a painful and moving speech returned to the brutal rape she suffered in her youth, and shared how the "Iron Swords" war floods her with the same terrible trauma.

"On October 7, I went back to 1998 (when she was raped by travel agent Nur Shlomo while she was in Milan, Italy, for modeling work). The unbearable testimonies and videos of the abuse of women brought me back to my personal memory, awakening within me the demons I face every day," she shared with courageous honesty.

"This is the year my world collapsed. I felt in my body and soul what fear of death was. It has been many years since I hoped for a better and safer world for women everywhere, but I was confused when I was exposed to the harsh scenes and inhuman actions of the bloodthirsty and hateful terrorists," she continued, referring to the atrocities committed by Hamas terrorists in the communities near the Gaza Strip and southern Israel. "In the depths of my soul I felt the pain of the women, the boys, the girls. As the pain of mothers, sisters, friends. I understand and know what's going through their minds, and I just want to hug them to my heart with all my might."

The 43-year-old actress added: "The acts they committed on them are not only war crimes, but crimes against all humanity. Women, children and babies were kidnapped from their homes by monsters, from their safest place. None of us is the woman she was."

At the end of her speech, Abergel sought to call out the cry of the women whose voices are currently mute, and called on women's organizations to wake up and take action on the issue: "Where are the women's organizations, where are the women who lead the world? Where are all the leading women in international media? We need you now, it's time to act."
