Highlights: Nasrallah stretches the rope - and the defense establishment is beginning to lose patience. After another day of battle and what appears to be an escalation, there are elements that even support going to war. At the moment, however, the trend is to concentrate on Gaza with the goal that a victory there will deter Hezbollah. Some believe that additional steps are needed - which could be political with a very extensive presence of forces along the border, or even to the point of an all-out war with Hezbollah.

The defense establishment is beginning to lose patience with Hezbollah's escalating actions, and understands that in order to restore security to the residents of the conflict line, a solution is needed that will fundamentally change the security situation along the border.

In his statement on Sunday evening, IDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Daniel Hagari said that "there is a plan to change the security reality in the north." This was against the background of the large number of security incidents in the area, including anti-tank fire at Dubav, which hit six civilians - one critically and another five seriously.

At the same time, the decision in the defense establishment at the moment is to focus on the south, with the understanding that it is preferable to concentrate the effort in each arena separately, in a gradual manner. Defense Minister Yoav Galant said yesterday that "Nasrallah is close to making a serious mistake."

There are still those who hope that a victory in Gaza will deter Hezbollah, but others believe that additional steps are needed - which could be political with a very extensive presence of forces along the border, or even to the point of an all-out war with Hezbollah.
