Israeli military confirms identity of Hamas hostage soldier
The Israeli military on Tuesday confirmed the identity of a soldier held hostage by Hamas. The armed wing of the Palestinian Islamist movement released a video showing the young woman in captivity.
"Our hearts go out to the Marciano family, whose daughter, Noa, was brutally kidnapped by the Hamas terror organization," the army said in a statement, confirming for the first time the identity of one of the nearly 240 people taken hostage in the Gaza Strip during Hamas' bloody attack on Israel on Oct. 7.

Biden calls on Israel to protect hospital where displaced people are trapped
"I hope and expect less intrusive actions regarding the hospital," Al-Shifa said at the White House, U.S. President Joe Biden, whose country is a key ally of Israel in its offensive against Hamas. He added: "The hospital must be protected."
Thousands of people remain trapped Tuesday at the site of Gaza's main hospital, amid fighting between Hamas and the Israeli army, which considers the site strategic for the Islamist movement. "The situation is very serious, it's inhumane," Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) warned on X (formerly Twitter).

Five Palestinians were killed in clashes with Israeli forces in the Tulkarm area of the northern occupied West Bank, the director of the local hospital said on Tuesday. They ranged in age from 21 to 29. The Israeli army confirmed to AFP an operation in this area of the occupied West Bank.
