Highlights: A 33-year-old man was killed by his partner's ex-husband in Carrières-sous-Poissy. A neighbour tried to save him, but to no avail. "I screamed, stop, let him go!" the mother of the family adds. The alleged murderer's daughter was waiting for her father in a shared custody arrangement. The latter is expected to be brought before the judicial court at the beginning of next week. The investigation has been entrusted to the Yvelines departmental police.

The 33-year-old, described as "discreet and polite", was killed by his girlfriend's ex. A neighbour tried to save him, but to no avail.

A woman walks out of the building covering her daughter's eyes. Another stops and watches, gripped with terror, the splatters of blood that dot the walls and floor. A few hours after the death of 33-year-old Yassine, the residents of a small residence in Carrières-sous-Poissy (Yvelines) are still in shock at the improbable scene they witnessed: this quiet and discreet young man died after multiple stab wounds by his partner's ex-husband.

The drama unfolded around 10 a.m. on Saturday. Kadidjatou gets out of his apartment to go to the parking lot of the residence. In the entrance hall, she bumps into Yassine, her neighbor, in deep discussion with another man, dressed in a blue sweater and jeans. He is the former companion of the thirty-year-old's concubine. The tension is palpable.

Stabbed by his rival

The ex-husband even hung his jacket on the front door and strangely greeted the mother of the family. "I didn't know him. On the other hand, I know Yassine. He was a really good, discreet, polite person. He lived here with his girlfriend and her daughter. He was a bus driver," says Kadidjatou. "A really nice guy," adds another resident.

A few moments later, she turns around abruptly, alerted by a surreal scene: Yassine is stuck in front of the front door and holding his stomach. He has just been stabbed by his rival with a "little grey knife". There's blood everywhere. "I screamed, stop, let him go!" the mother adds.

The murderer preyed on his victim

But the murderer won't listen. He pursues Yassine, who tries to flee and catches up with him at the foot of a building in the small residence. And there he finishes off his enemy, kneels on his body and slashes his face, then his neck to behind his ear, as if he wanted to cut his throat. Kadiatou screams. But the other insists, "possessed" before quietly getting back into his blue Toyota Yaris. Once again, the mother of the family tries to hold him back. A shiver runs through her when the assassin arrives at her in a car. But he left "in no hurry," Mady recalled, and she began to follow him while Kadidjatou's children alerted the police.

The alleged murderer, on the right in the photo, "quietly" got back into his car before going to the police station.

Mady, who lives in the same residence, drives a few hundred meters behind the fugitive. But he is stopped by a traffic light that he did not dare to burn. The killer continued on his way and a few minutes later went to the police station in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine where he confessed to his act.

The alleged murderer's daughter was waiting for her father

Meanwhile, Kadidjatou, with the help of a neighbour, tries to resuscitate Yassine, who is still breathing. The fire brigade took over. In vain. The young man lost too much blood. He was pronounced dead shortly before 12 p.m. His body was covered with a sheet and protected by a tarpaulin until he left for the mortuary shortly before 14 p.m.

The investigation has been entrusted to the Yvelines departmental police. Immediately after the incident, police recovered a 9-year-old girl from the first-floor apartment. She is Yassine's "daughter-in-law". Her mother in Tunisia, she was waiting for her father to pick her up in a shared custody arrangement. The latter is expected to be brought before the Versailles judicial court at the beginning of next week.
