Hours before the runoff in which the new president of Argentina will be elected, the candidate of Union for the Fatherland, Sergio Massa, was threatened as well as his family on social networks and the police have already arrested five of those allegedly responsible for the intimidating messages.

The threats to Massa and his family occurred in the last few hours and, after several operations, the police arrested five people in Córdoba, Chaco, Salta and the City of Buenos Aires.

The arrests were ordered following an investigation that the Federal Police, through the Cybercrime Area and the Anti-Terrorist Investigation Unit Department, carried out on the social networks of Instagram and TikTok into the threats received by the Massa family.

After carrying out several searches, it was possible to establish the homes of the accused, according to sources from that force.

The offices of the PFA of Córdoba and Chaco (DUOF) collaborated in the operations: during their execution, all the devices that would have been used in the maneuver, strictly telephones and computers, were seized from the homes raided, it was reported.

The last of those arrested was an 18-year-old girl, apprehended in the city of Salta.

The arrest took place within the framework of a raid carried out at the home where the young woman was, which was made at 7 a.m. on Saturday, where a cell phone and a notebook were seized.

The same sources said that the detainee was transferred to the local unit of the Federal Police, incommunicado and will be questioned next Tuesday.

Massa himself spoke out this Saturday through his social networks to thank the messages of support after the threats.

The head of the economic portfolio posted a photo with his family on social networks and thanked those who were concerned about the threats that his wife, Malena Galmarini, and their children also received.

"It's been 27 years since Malena Galmarini and I decided to start this life project, our greatest commitment, our greatest responsibility. Mili and Toto, our children, are the ones who give meaning to every step we take, because like every father and every mother, we do everything for our children and we want to leave them a better Argentina. That's why I'm here," Massa emphasized.

In the post, which he illustrated with a photograph with his family, the Tigrayan highlighted: "Thank you to all those who wrote to us worrying about the threats we received. Children are the most valuable thing you have in life."
