The establishment of a scholarship aimed at newly enrolled students to avoid the unification of the hotel home of the chefs, the 'Marchitelli' institute of Villa S. Maria: the proposal was launched by the non-profit organization 'Peppino Falconio' which renewed its appeal to the Abruzzo Region, and to all the institutions involved, "so that the process of unification is reviewed".
The historic school that has given great chefs and catering professionalism to the whole world risks losing its specificity due to the proposal of the Abruzzo Region to size which provides for the annexation to the comprehensive institute of Quadri due to the number of students enrolled in the hotel industry which does not exceed 300 units. The school, in addition to being a prestigious professional institute, with numerous events, is in fact a 'hotel with restaurant', for the management of the two boarding schools and the boarding school canteen, with over 150 guests a day.
"This year - explain the non-profit organization 'Falconio' - we intended to move to Northern Italy for our scholarships, but we could not stand still in the face of the difficulties of the hotel institute in our country. The 2024 scholarships will therefore be intended for eighth grade students of all complexes of the Benedetto Croce di Quadri IC. We will start from Villa Santa Maria because for years this historic institute of the homeland of chefs has been complaining of a continuous haemorrhage of enrollees".
The alarm was raised about a month ago by CislAbruzzoMolise, asking "all political representatives to be consistent with the national and regional guidelines for safeguarding the specificities of schools in mountain areas".
Just yesterday the Conference of School Planning and Organization of the Province of Chieti rejected the proposal to merge the 'Marchitelli' with the comprehensive institute of Quadri, but the final decision will still be made by the Abruzzo Region.
