Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced today (Monday) the extension of the term of Bank of Israel Governor Prof. Amir Yaron for another term. The decision follows reports last night about the mutual desire of Smotrich and Yaron himself to stay, partly due to the war and its consequences, for another term, and this was subject to the final decision of Netanyahu, who has now decided, as stated, to approve the extension of his term. The decision will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval at its upcoming meeting.
