The IDF gave the political echelon the green light for a few days of pause as part of a deal to release abductees with Hamas. Cabinet ministers estimate that the deal – if it goes through – will take place by the end of the week.
A member of Hamas' political bureau, Izzat al-Rishq, who is based in Qatar, said on Tuesday morning that the Qataris would announce the details of the deal. According to him, in the event of a deal, abductees will be released in exchange for the release of terrorists and minor terrorists.
Al Rishq told Qatar's Al Jazeera this morning: "We have come significantly closer to announcing the Hudna agreement in the coming hours. This is the release of Israeli prisoners in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners. Details of the hudna will be announced by the brothers in Qatar."
This morning, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh wrote on Telegram that his organization was close to reaching a deal on a lull in the fighting in the Gaza Strip.
Recent reports speak of the release of between 50 and 100 abductees in exchange for a five-day respite and the release of some 300 Palestinian prisoners.
