Israel wants to finalize the details held by Hamas in the coming hours, and only then advance the agreement • Despite the Qatari Foreign Ministry's announcement that the date of the ceasefire will be announced soon, Israel is not committing to exact times • Minister Margi: "We were not surprised by the delay, we have a cynical enemy in front of us"

The deal is stuck, the hope of releasing the hostages tomorrow: The deal between Israel and Hamas for the release of abductees was supposed to be implemented today (Thursday), but was delayed and has not yet been finalized. Israel Hayom learned that at the last minute Hamas demanded that Israel halt an operation inside the Gaza Strip to ensure the security of our soldiers.

A Palestinian source told AFP that the delay in implementing the ceasefire in Gaza was related to the final details on the list of abductees to be released and how.

"It was expected"

Israel does not give details about when the ceasefire will go into effect, and hence when the abductees will be returned. On the other hand, Qatar announced that the date for declaring the ceasefire would be given in the coming hours.

In addition, the White House announced this morning that there are final logistical details to close the deal, and that it hopes that as early as tomorrow morning abductees held captive by Hamas will leave for Israel again.

Welfare Minister Yaakov Margi told Israel Hayom this morning:
"I participated yesterday in a meeting with the Prime Minister in order to review before him the document issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs with instructions for absorbing the abductees, and during the meeting we were already updated online. No government minister or member of the security forces who was at the meeting was surprised that the delay was announced yesterday.

"During the discussions and reviews in the government, we took into account that there would be delays. We know who kidnapped them - a cynical enemy. All parties anticipated reasons for the delay."
