The lot of an earthbuilder

Highlights: Construction company Strobl has to invest in new buildings even before the actual expansion. Excavated material in this context is considered waste to be avoided. To ensure that it does not end up in landfill, excavated material is therefore to be used for backfilling. That's why Strobl, who works in the field of sewer construction and pipeline construction, has to create an interim storage facility. It will cost the contractor around two million euros to construct the buildings, which are now mandatory. The regulation has been in force since 1 August this year.

Construction company Strobl has to invest in new buildings even before the actual expansion.

Frieding – The construction company Strobl on Steyrerweg in Frieding had to wait a long time before it could expand. It was only in the spring that the removal of an area from the landscape conservation area was approved by the district council (we reported). 16 years after the first application for enlargement. It was planned to expand the administration building as well. Company boss Michael Strobl has now had to postpone this project again, because due to a new so-called shell ordinance, he must first invest elsewhere - in a storage and processing hall plus a weighing house with laboratory.

The contractor will cost the contractor around two million euros to construct the buildings, which are now mandatory. "You have to knit for a long time. That really annoys me," he says frankly. For him, however, it is positive that he can use the roofs for photovoltaics.

With the Shell Ordinance, uniform regulations for the ecological use of recycled building materials are made nationwide. The regulation has been in force since 1 August this year. Excavated material in this context is considered waste to be avoided. To ensure that it does not end up in landfill, excavated material is therefore to be used for backfilling. For this to work, however, it needs to be examined. That's why Strobl, who works in the field of sewer construction and pipeline construction, has to create an interim storage facility. A lot that affects all earthbuilders.

In order to make this use possible, it was necessary to amend the development plan as soon as it became legally binding. The building committee of the Andechs municipal council approved the change on Tuesday and thus on the elimination of a green belt. The first section from the Steyrerweg with the old oak tree worthy of protection will be retained.

The committee also approved the mandatory construction of a privacy wall and a retaining wall on the area that protruded into the landscape area. They are intended to block the view of humus and gravel piles.
