Highlights: "Now everything depends on the weather": Lift operators in the Miesbach district hope for a punctual start to the season. It is hoped that the season will start by the Christmas holidays at the latest. Longer lasting snowfalls are predicted, temperatures are plummeting. The production of artificial snow only makes sense when the thermometer shows stable temperatures of minus five degrees or below. The tickets are between three and a half and five percent more expensive this year. The prices on the Hirschberg have remained the same compared to the previous year.

The lift operators in the district of Miesbach are in the starting blocks. As soon as the weather cooperates, the snow cannons will go into operation. It is hoped that the season will start by the Christmas holidays at the latest.

County – Winter is slowly getting going. Longer lasting snowfalls are predicted, temperatures are plummeting. For the lift operators in the district of Miesbach, these are hopeful prospects. This is because the production of artificial snow only makes sense when the thermometer shows stable temperatures of minus five degrees or below. "Things are looking good for the beginning of next week," said Antonia Asenstorfer, managing director of Alpenbahnen Spitzingsee and Brauneck- und Wallbergbahnen GmbH as well as spokeswoman for the Alpenplus ski resorts in the district, on Friday (24 November). Presumably, you could get started with snowmaking. However, it is still unclear when skiing will be able to start in all areas of the region.

Oedberg: Operator doesn't want to produce expensive artificial snow for free

It all depends on the weather in the coming weeks. The operators of large and small lifts agree on this. "The renovation work from summer to winter has been completed," says Georg Reisberger, head of the Oedberg lifts in Ostin. Theoretically, everything is ready for the new ski season. However, because electricity costs are still high, the snow cannons in Ostin will only run when the temperatures are permanently right. Producing artificial snow, which then falls victim to a warm phase shortly afterwards, is not economically sensible, Reisberger makes clear. "We'll have to keep a close eye on that." The big goal is to put the lifts into operation for the Christmas holidays. "Everything else is secondary," says Reisberger. If the weather permits earlier, we will open earlier. "We can make enough snow in three to four nights for operations to start."

Lift tickets on the Oedberg will be more expensive this year

When it comes to lift tickets, Oedberg fans will have to adjust to new features this year. On the one hand, prices have been increased, as Reisberger explains. For example, the one-, two-, three- and four-hour tickets cost 19, 21, 23 and 25 euros for adults this season. For the four-hour family ticket, you have to shell out 69 euros. "We have also changed the card system," says Reisberger. Score cards are no longer available, but so-called extension cards have been introduced, which can be used to increase the number of hour cards.

Alpenplus spokeswoman also has her sights set on the Christmas holidays

For Antonia Asenstorfer, the Christmas holidays are also in focus. By then at the latest, at least the main slopes of the Alpenplus ski resorts Spitzingsee-Tegernsee, Sudelfeld and Brauneck-Wegscheid in Tölz's neighbouring district will be put into operation. "Maybe it's a good week in advance," says Asenstorfer. In any event, the preparatory work has been completed. The staffing situation is also encouraging. "Now it all depends on the weather." By the way: The tariffs in the Alpenplus ski resorts have been adjusted again. The tickets are between three and a half and five percent more expensive this year.

At the Hirschberg in Kreuth, they hope for an early start to the season

Operator Sepp Kandlinger is also in the starting blocks at the Hirschberg lifts in Kreuth. "It's all set up. As soon as it's really cold, we start making snow," he says. On the homepage there is talk of an expected start of the season on 16 December. Whether it will stay that way or whether it might be possible to have fun on his slope earlier, he cannot estimate at the moment. One thing is certain: The prices on the Hirschberg have remained the same compared to the previous year. The one-, two-, three- and four-hour tickets cost 12, 16, 50, 19 and 20 euros for adults. The day ticket costs 23 euros.

According to operator Rainer Bierschneider, the ticket prices at the Kirchberg lifts in Kreuth will probably increase slightly. Bierschneider is currently busy with the construction. When his lifts can go into operation depends entirely on the favor of Frau Holle. There is no artificial snowmaking here – "and there never will be," Bierschneider makes clear.
